KEEPING FIT AND HEALTHY
Walks are tailored to meet the requirements of your dog and ensure that they get the most from their time away from home.
Hello, I'm Amanda and have been walking dogs since I was about 8 years old - first Patch the Jack Russell, then Cindy the Toy Poodle, Sandy the yellow Lab and my favourite, Lassie, who was a Lab Collie cross. None of them were ever mine; my parents wouldn't allow me to have a dog of my own. We had cats and a hamster instead. So I would pester our neighbours and friends to allow me to walk their dogs after school and at weekends. They soon trusted me to walk them on my own. I was the happiest dog walker around.
I left home and trained to be a nurse. So with long hours and shift work having a dog of my own was still not an option. Then when I went to Bath University, the campus was right next to the Bath Cats and Dogs Home - a rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing centre. So I went back to ‘borrowing’ dogs to take for walks. With like-minded friends we would walk several dogs at a time; dogs and students all enjoying the fresh air and freedom. What could be better?
Later, when I came back to my home county of Dorset, I was finally able to have my own dog - a beautiful Hungarian Vizsla, joined two years later by a sister from the same pairing. Two joyful energetic dogs, that never seemed to tire. Sadly we lost Wallace last year when he was almost eleven, but we still have little Hattie.
I have studied Canine Behaviour and Canine First Aid, learning what wonderful creatures dogs are. This combined knowledge helps me to understand your dog and treat them with the same level of respect and care that you do. I have also recently completed a City & Guilds course designed specifically for dog walkers. I want to share my joy of being out in the fresh air with a group of dogs, with your dog.
Please contact me to arrange a free consultation and we can take your dog out for a walk and chat about what you need and what makes them happy.
Amanda walked Gatzby for me for 5 consecutive days when I was on holiday. She came and met him before I went and he was very happy to see her again. I found Amanda to be trustworthy professional and very aware of each individual dogs behaviour and needs. I returned home to a very tired content dog who no longer jumps out of the car the minute the hatchback is opened. I would have no hesitation in recommending her and we will certainly be using her services again.
